Walking Tracks Around 1770 and Agnes Water
There are plenty of opportunities around 1770 and Agnes Water to enjoy some great nature tracks and walking trails in the wilderness around Eurimbula, Deepwater and Round Hill National Parks. From November to March take a walk along the beach and see if you can spot one of the rare and endangered Loggerhead Turtles.
Agnes Water Beach – a 6 km walk that is great at low tide. Gain access via the footbridge near the Tom Jeffery Park parking area on Agnes Street.
1770 Headland and Lookouts – an easy 15 minute walk from the parking area at 1770 Headland to and from the lookout with sensational coastal views along the way.
Discovery Trail – Park at the Community Centre at the back of the museum on Springs Road and pick up a map of the Discovery Trail from the Museum parking area. The trail is a 25 minute round trip and winds around bushland, to the lookout overlooking Agnes Water Beach and Workman’s Beach. Be sure to take some drinking water.
Red Rock Trail – located south of Agnes Water, the Red Rock Trail requires a reasonable level of fitness as there are some steep inclines. Again, take water with you. Travel South along Springs Road for 3.2 kilometres and enter the sandy track on the left, opposite the Reedy Creek Reserve sign. Follow the track for 800 metres and park near the trees. On this picturesque walking trail you’ll cross a boardwalk, sand, beaches and stepping stones. Keep your eyes open for turtles and dolphins. If you walk briskly it will take about an hour but if your want to take your time and enjoy the scenery or go for a swim, allow several hours. As there are two housing estates Rocky Point and Sunrise at 1770 in this area, there are signs indicating ‘Private Property’, we ask that you respect these wishes.
